Privacy Policy

A plain-language explanation of the information MarginDock uses to provide the service and the choices you have over it.

This Privacy Policy explains how MarginDock ("MarginDock," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use margindock.app and the MarginDock service.

1. Information we collect

Account and profile information

We collect the email address and authentication information needed to create and secure your account. You may also provide a first name, last name, username, business name, and display preference. If you use a third-party sign-in provider, we receive the account details that provider shares with us.

Inventory and calculator information

We store the item details you choose to save, including product names, costs, expected and actual sale prices, marketplace information, fees, quantities, dates, statuses, notes, SKUs, sourcing and storage locations, presets, calculator defaults, and insight settings.

Photos and files

If you upload an item photo, we process and store a compressed copy so it can appear with your inventory. JSON or CSV exports are generated in your browser and downloaded to your device.

Usage, device, and security information

We collect limited product milestones and conversion events, such as whether onboarding was completed or a feature was used. These events are designed not to include item names, prices, photos, or notes. Our hosting, authentication, and security providers may process IP address, browser, device, log, and fraud-prevention information needed to operate and protect the service.

2. How we use information

  • Provide, sync, personalize, and maintain MarginDock.
  • Calculate estimated profit, ROI, pricing floors, and inventory insights.
  • Authenticate users, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and protect accounts.
  • Understand feature adoption and improve the product.
  • Respond to support, privacy, and account requests.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How we disclose information

We use service providers to host and protect MarginDock, including Supabase for authentication, database, and private file storage, and Cloudflare for hosting and bot protection. These providers process information on our behalf under their own contractual and privacy obligations.

We may also disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or the service, investigate fraud or security issues, or complete a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

MarginDock does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use your inventory data or photos to advertise to you.

4. Data retention and account deletion

We keep account information and saved content while your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service. You can clear inventory without deleting your account, export a copy of your data, or permanently delete your account from Settings.

Permanent account deletion is designed to remove your authentication account, profile, inventory, presets, settings, uploaded item photos, activation records, and conversion events linked to your user account. Limited information may be retained when required by law, needed to prevent fraud or resolve disputes, or present temporarily in encrypted provider backups and security logs until their normal deletion cycle completes.

5. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. MarginDock will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

You can update profile and app settings, export data, clear data, or delete your account from Settings. You can also contact us for assistance.

6. Security

We use measures designed to protect information, including encrypted connections, private storage, access controls, row-level database security, and bot protection. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so you should use a unique password and protect access to your email and devices.

7. International use

MarginDock and its providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws. We use the service-provider protections available to us for these transfers.

8. Children

MarginDock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can investigate and remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MarginDock changes. We will revise the effective date and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the service.
